The Trinbago Diaspora Outreach Network (TDON) will host the 2nd Annual Diaspora Patriot Awards Dinner and Celebration on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the elegant Cara Hotel, Pointe-a-Pierre, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and continuing until midnight. This year’s event will honor 10 individuals, and 2 organizations, including 2 cultural icons whose work and influence have significantly advanced the cause of Trinidad and Tobago’s global presence.
Among the distinguished honorees are Mr. Gilman Figaro of New York and Mr. George Maharaj of Toronto, two outstanding cultural impresarios recognized for their enduring contribution to the international promotion and preservation of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture. Their decades-long dedication to community building, music, and heritage preservation has inspired generations across the diaspora and at home.

The 2025 awards will also celebrate nine honorees for outstanding philanthropic work, recognizing the remarkable impact of diaspora-led and local initiatives that uplift communities through education, health, and humanitarian service. In addition, this year TDON introduces a new Entrepreneurial Support Award, acknowledging an individual or enterprise whose work has opened doors for economic collaboration and innovation between the diaspora and Trinidad and Tobago.
Delivering the keynote address will be The Honorable Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, underscoring the government’s ongoing engagement with the diaspora in fostering cultural and developmental linkages. Over 200 guests—including distinguished members of the diaspora, local civic leaders, and representatives from the creative and business sectors—are expected to attend.
The evening will conclude on a celebratory note with live performances by Oscar Benjamin and Vibes, setting the stage for a night of cultural pride, music, and connection that truly reflects the spirit of diaspora patriotism.
The Diaspora Patriot Awards Dinner forms part of Diaspora Homecoming Weekend, organized by 2 Trinbago Diaspora Outreach Network to honor, reconnect, and celebrate the achievements of Trinidad and Tobago nationals abroad and at home who continue to contribute to the nation’s progress.
