What does it mean to be patriotic? Is it a feeling, a duty, or a way of life? For many Trinidad and Tobago migrants living in Canada, patriotism is more than just waving a flag or singing an anthem. That is why they gathered on a cold October night to witness the premiere of our feature documentary, Exemplars Of Patriotism which celebrates the stories and achievements of T&T.
That was the hook that captivated the cozy but lively crowd on the evening of October 21st. The momentous occasion was the premiere our groundbreaking documentary, “Exemplars of Patriotism,” produced by the visionary Dr. Andre Phillips. This event attracted a diverse cross-section of Trinidad and Tobago migrants, united by a shared anticipation of what was to unfold.
The evening held much more than a cinematic experience. In addition, it marked the official launch of the TDON Canada Chapter, under the capable leadership of Ms. Claire Kirk, a distinguished member of the Governing Board of the Trinbago Diaspora Outreach Network, headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago.
Ms. Kirk’s address resonated with the audience as she unveiled the immediate plans for her dynamic Chapter. Among the exciting announcements was the intention to lead a substantial contingent to the eagerly awaited Homecoming 2024 in Trinidad next July. Meanwhile, the producer of the documentary, Dr. Andre Phillips, shared his inspiration and vision behind the project, which features interviews with prominent Trinidad and Tobago nationals who have made significant contributions to various fields in Canada.
The night was indeed one to remember, where connections were strengthened, unity was celebrated, and the power of the diaspora was illuminated.
