As momentum continues to build for Trinbago Diaspora Homecoming 2026, the Trinbago Diaspora Outreach Network (TDON) is strengthening strategic partnerships that will help reconnect Trinidad and Tobago nationals around the world with the land of their birth.
In that spirit, TDON Board Member Rayan Ramoutar recently paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Toronto, where she met with Consul General Simone Young and members of the Consulate team to discuss collaborative initiatives leading up to Homecoming Week, taking place October 15–18, 2026.
Also present was Vashtie Doorga, a distinguished 2024 TDON Diaspora Patriot Award recipient from Ontario, Canada, whose continued commitment to national development reflects the spirit of service and excellence celebrated by the Network.
The discussions centred on expanding awareness of Homecoming 2026 through a coordinated communications effort, including the sharing of TDON’s promotional flyers and media releases on the Consulate’s social media platforms, spotlighting TDON’s Diaspora Patriot Award recipients, integrating Homecoming messaging into upcoming Consulate forums and community engagements, and identifying additional opportunities to inspire Trinidad and Tobago nationals abroad to reconnect with home.
The meeting also reaffirmed a valued relationship that has grown over the years. In 2023, the Toronto Consulate partnered with TDON to host the premiere of its acclaimed feature documentary, Exemplars of Patriotism. The event was supported through the collaboration of then Consul General Tracey Ramsubhag and Claire Kirk, TDON’s Canada-based Director. That partnership celebrated the remarkable achievements of Trinidad and Tobago nationals making a difference across the globe and laid the foundation for continued collaboration.
“Homecoming is more than an event…it is a movement,” said Dr. Andre Adrian Phillips, Chairman of TDON. “Every conversation, every partnership and every ambassador within our diaspora helps strengthen the ties that unite our global Trinidad and Tobago family. Together, we are creating new pathways for connection, investment, cultural exchange and national development.”
With just weeks to go before Homecoming 2026, TDON continues to invite members of the diaspora, diplomatic missions, community organisations, businesses and citizens at home to become part of a national initiative dedicated to celebrating identity, strengthening relationships and shaping a shared future.
