Courts Optical has signed on to the Medical Outreach Program organized by Trinbago Diaspora Outreach Network (TDON) on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of National Independence. The charitable initiative coordinated by the locally incorporated non-profit organization will provide over 300 special needs children with hearing screening and vison screening in three locations in Trinidad and one in Tobago. The medical outreach services are scheduled for Mon 22 thru Thurs 26 August. TDON and its partner diaspora organizations are underwriting the cost to conduct hearing screening. Vision screening will be provided completely free on all service days in both islands for special needs and other children. A private deaf support company will conduct all hearing screenings for special needs children over the four days of the Medical Outreach program. In addition the TT diaspora in New York led by Stephen Isaac and members of the Trinbago Progressive Association recently shipped 9 barrels of health equipment to use in the TDON charity project.
TDON is a bridge building entity that fosters diaspora engagement in TT by serving as a conduit for TT organizations abroad. Intent on contributing social, cultural and economic upliftment of communities across T&T. It spearheads Homecoming TT 2022 activities which showcases diaspora patriotism in celebration of the nation’s diamond jubilee. Other activities associated with Homecoming are geared to showcase the patriotism exhibited by our diaspora when they visit home. Alongside the medical outreach activity the visitors will participate in specially arranged tours of attractions and enterprises with special significance to the foreign based nationals. These are happening simultaneously on both islands. On Saturday 27 the diaspora family and fun day is scheduled for Tobago, followed by the inaugural Homecoming Convention over 3 days in Tobago at Mt Irvine Bay Hotel. The convention commences with an interfaith service followed by the Authentic Cultural Showcase on Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon respectively. The following days are dedicated to academic type conference sessions under the title Renewing Diaspora Commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.
